Privacy notice
meatchat is designed without a central catalogue of dating profiles or match outcomes. That does not mean “no data”: the app keeps local state, network providers process connection metadata, and an operator receives a report when you choose to escalate one.
Who operates this preview
Forgesworn operates the meatchat technical preview from the United Kingdom. This is currently a project/operator name, not a published company identity. Full legal operator and postal details must be added before a public-beta launch. You can contact the operator through the support and safety form.
Data kept on your device
- a random identity seed, encrypted at rest, and your local profile/matching preferences;
- app settings, notification choices, local trust information and your block list;
- messages and other session state needed for the experience, where the app says they persist.
This data is not a public profile. It remains on the device until you remove it or use Reset identity. Removing the app or clearing site data may also remove it. Device backups are disabled in the native Android build, but your operating system and browser ultimately control local storage.
Data handled over the network
The native Bluetooth path exchanges protocol traffic with nearby devices. Relay paths carry room identifiers, connection timing and encrypted application frames. A relay or infrastructure provider may see IP addresses and request metadata even when it cannot read sealed frame contents. Shared web room names can be guessed or shared and are not proof of physical proximity.
The current preview uses Cloudflare-hosted Pages, Workers, Durable Objects and object storage, and may use third-party Nostr relays when that transport is selected. Those providers process technical metadata under their own terms. meatchat does not currently add advertising trackers or behavioural analytics.
Safety and support reports
Room reports are signed peer-to-peer messages used for local advisory trust; they are not automatically sent to Forgesworn. If you explicitly use Escalate to the safety team or the website form, we receive the category, description, time, optional peer fingerprint, app/source version and any contact detail you choose to provide. Do not include sensitive information that is not needed to investigate.
Central escalation records are deleted automatically after 90 days unless they must be retained longer to investigate an active safety issue, prevent abuse, meet a legal obligation or protect legal rights. Rate limiting uses a one-way keyed hash of the network address; the raw address is not stored in the moderation record.
Legal bases and sharing
Where UK data-protection law applies, support processing is necessary to provide the requested service; safety, abuse prevention and service security are handled for legitimate interests; and optional report/contact details are supplied at your request. We share data only with infrastructure processors, professional advisers or authorities where reasonably necessary and lawful. We do not sell personal data.
Your choices and rights
You can avoid the relay by using an available native Bluetooth room, leave a room, block a participant, withhold optional contact details, or reset local identity data. For access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a privacy complaint, use the support form and choose Privacy request. We may need enough information to locate and authenticate a report. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner.
Adults only and changes
meatchat is for people aged 18 or over and does not knowingly provide the service to children. Material changes will receive a new policy version and require acceptance in the app.
